Fans of comic books will find some familiar covers at “American Memories,” the exhibit at ArtSpace/Virginia Miller Galleries in Coral Gables.
Superman Classic No. 1, Spiderman, Batman No. 27, Batman and Robin, Dagwood and Blondie, Wonder Woman, Mighty Mouse, Lil Orphan Annie, Dick Tracy, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Popeye, Curious George, Felix, Nancy & Sluggo, The Little Mermaid, and Snow White are some of the subjects of the artist, Leslie Lew.
Featuring some of America’s most iconic images, Leslie Lew offers a nostalgic trip back to childhoods ranging from the 1930s to 1970s. Permission from The Walt Disney Company, DC Comics, and the Kellogg Company allows her to re-create comic book covers of America’s most beloved childhood heroes along with perennially favorite breakfast cereals.
“American Memories” will be exhibited at ArtSpace/Virginia Miller Galleries from through July 2013. Receptions for the exhibition will be held from 6 to 10 pm on Friday, June 7th and July 5th.
